Feel free to skip this, but if you're interested here are some Tonight is the longest night of the year.  By this time, we have eaten many of our stores, and we begin to see if we made wise choices as we collected last year's harvest.  Every day is a little shorter, a little colder.  The nights are increasingly dark and bitter.

The Sun has grown weary.  He is old and tired, and his Mother-Wife brings Him to Her breast to rest.  To die.  To be reborn.

This is the night of hope.  Of rebirth.  Of survival.  Tonight the Sun dies.  Tonight the Sun lives.

There is a story among our people, that on this night the bitterest, darkest of nights, we would show our faith, our complete belief in the rebirth of our Lord, that on this night all fires would be extinguished.  You have to remember that in the winter, fire is life.  No heat, no light, no warmth....no life.  If your fire dies, so do you.

But on this night, we would extinguish our fires, and experience the dark, the cold and we would believe that the light would return and that the darkness would not triumph.
