You Know that's Neville Longbottom's Wand
Aug. 25th, 2012 08:51 pmBecause it is purple and it says "Bad Ass Mother Fucker" on it. (He got this wand after his dad' was broken in the Department of Mysteries. True facts.)
So, I got this idea for a story back in 2007 (right after DH came out) that tells Neville's story using a series of letters, flashbacks and missing moments (Harry is just not that observant, bless him. And the canon stories are all told from his point of view. Did you know that after the fourth year Yule Ball, Neville and Ginny became really good friends? Yeah, neither did Harry.)
Anyway, I did this story for NaNoWriMo, I successfully wrote 50K worth of words, but I got nowhere near done telling Neville's story. (Please note that I did not say I wrote fifty thousand GOOD words.)
I'm working on editing what I did write, and then sorting out what's left before November and NaNoWriMo time rolls 'round again.
I may post snippets here as I go (as much to gauge some feedback as anything else...is this terrible? What am I even doing?)
My basic premise is that the prophecy really could have referred to either boy, and that Neville had as important a role to play in defeating Voldemort as Harry did. My working title is "Neville Longbottom: The Other Boy that Also Lived." (Because that's not depressing at all).
